In February 2024 the very first G series harvester, an Eco Log 560G, was delivered to Hedesunda Skogsgallring. The company is owned by Erik Engstrand, but Henrik is the one who operates the new machine.
We meet Erik and Henrik in the forest outside Ockelbo. When we meet them they have operated the new machine for about two months and 600 hours. Naturally, we are keen on hearing if Henrik is enjoying the new cabin and what he thinks about the machine so far.
-It is a big step forward. The new cabin feels cozier, more luxurious and also it is generally quieter and visibility is good. We also operated for a month or so with the lights during the darker periods, and they were also really good, says Henrik.
Before, Henrik operated an Eco Log 550E which means that the new control system, Eco Log NexSci is also new to him.
-Yes, everything is new, but the control system is also a big step forward. Above all, the operation and machine behavior are what is most positive. It runs much smoother when it diffs and so on. It is not jerky. That is a big advantage, especially here, where the terrain is difficult with a lot of rocks, Henrik explains.
The cabin floor is covered with a car-carpet and Henrik has also received a bag of small toy cars from his oldest son, so that he can build a car park when he is at work.
-Yes, he was a bit worried about us not having any cars at work, so then he gave some of his to me. My youngest colleague has also tried it out and it works well. He is only 21 years old, says Henrik laughing.
During our visit we also have a chat with Erik who owns and manages Hedesunda Skogsgallring. He tells us that his role in the company today is to make sure operations runs smoothly, collect things to the machines when necessary and to drive if a machine should be unmanned.
-We have several mahines in our machine park, so there is always plenty of work to be done. . But of course, driving is what is most fun, says Erik
We ask Erik about the reason they decided to choose an Eco Log when they bought a new machine this time.
-Well, the drivers have quite a lot to say when it comes to the choice of machine. So, in this case, Henrik really wanted to drive an Eco Log. To me, it is important that the employees enjoys their work and that they want to stay in the company. So of course, I consider their thoughts and requests, Erik explains.
When we ride along in the machine, Henrik confirms that Erik is a boss who really listens to his employees, and it is obvious that they have a nice relationship.
– -Erik is very responsive and attentive. It works very well if you ask me. And also, he won´t get rid of me, whether he likes it or not, Henrik says laughing.
Three quick questions with Erik Engstrand:
When it comes to music, do you prefer Hard rock or Dance band?
-Hard rock, for sure!
Summer or winter holiday?
-Winter, I like skiing.
The best food to bring to the machine?
-Pyttipanna (chopped potatoe, meat and onion). Perfect for the lunch box.
