Eco Log visits – Krycklinge Skog

Since 2009, Johan Mattsson runs his company Krycklinge Skog outside Uppsala. He has been working in the forest since 1998 and has operated both Skogsjan, Caterpillar and now, several harvesters from Eco Log. His latest, and thereby ninth harvester from Eco Log, arrived about a month ago – a 590F equipped with a EC 661LF harvester head.

With his long experience from Eco Log´s machines he has great knowledge of how they work. New to Johan on this machine is, amongst others, the Eco Log harvester head and of course we want to hear his opinion on how it works.
– We have operated a few thousand cubic meters now and so far the harvester head has performed very well and it has a high capacity. It is well designed – robust and strong with a good hose routing – also the saw is worth highlighting, says Johan.

We meet Johan in Hallstavik where they are performing a final felling of almost 7000 cubic meters on behalf of Nordic Forest. . Johan has seven employees in the company and during our visit we also meet Jimmy Frieberg on site where he operates the new harvester in his morning shift. The terrain is rocky, which is a challenge, but also an environment where the pendulum arm machines shows themselves in their best advantage.
– Yes, right now we are working in a very rocky tract where the pendulum arm system is perfect since we can climp slopes and pull the stems down to the base path, Johan explains.

The pendulum arms are one of several reasons to why Krycklinge Skog chooses harvesters from Eco Log. Johan
explains that the characteristics he appreciates the most on the machines are their strength, stability and reliability. Above all, he talks about the contact and the importance of having good service close at hand as determining factors in
the choice of machines.
– We get very good service from our Service provider, Blackne Maskin, and that is very important. Also, we have had a close contact from the start to both our sales representative and to the factory where they are continuously working on developing the machines which keeps making them better and better, says Johan.

Being a forestry contractor means a lot of challenges according to Johan but this is also
what makes the job as rewarding as it is.
– It is an incredibly varying work because no day is similiar to the other. There are always different situations that you need to work out. At the end of the day, the biggest advantage working with forestry and felling is that it is so much fun to operate the machines, says Johan.
